Our first task was to breathe new life into this space. We decided this transformation would occur by replacing the dark kitchen cabinetry with something more elegant and sophisticated. This let us to the decision of acrylic Artisan cabinetry through Woodland Cabinetry. When we design, we don’t only think about the appearance. By removing parts of the kitchen that were no longer used, we were further able to open up the space. This gives it a spacious inviting feeling. It provides it with a breath of fresh air. We completely took the peninsula out that blocked critical space to achieve this.

With this freedom of new space we wanted to think beyond appearance and think about functionality. Therefore, we ask ourselves two very important questions, ‘what will this space be used for?’ and ‘How can we improve the homeowners use of this space?’ This led us to the decision of adding a Unique Calacatta Quartz by MetroQuartz island top.

Additionally, we designed in extra seating for hosting. To achieve this we added an L-shaped lavish walnut table that extends from the counter. My favorite thing about this placement is that when guests sit in it, they’ll be able to take in the gorgeous outdoor water view from the large picturesque windows. Another functional piece we added was buffet-style cabinetry that shares space from the kitchen and living room. This is a great way to host guests during get togethers.

To give the kitchen a sleek uniformed look, we decided all of the countertops to be the same Unique Calacatta Quartz by MetroQuartz. The bright color keeps it soft to the eye and the backsplash being the same Calacatta Quartz pulls your gaze up the walls making it appear even more grand.

Last but not least, fashion and functionality is our design magic design sauce. All of the appliances are bluetooth compatible and can be utilized by Siri. The Italian company Futuro Futuro made hood frames the induction cooktop.

Our favorite Hidden Gems

This kitchen boasts so many hidden gems that we couldn’t be more excited about. Here are some design pieces that add to the design and functionality of the room. Firstly, shown above is an image of pull out drawers that have outlets installed. This gives the kitchen a cordless sleek look but also allows homeowners and guests to charge their devices.

Secondly, we absolutely love this bar that was designed that you can see pictured below. To be honest, we’re all a little envious of it at McLain Design, I mean who doesn’t need a bougie bar? The dark walnut contrast pops against the light kitchen interior. We chose to keep the same countertop but here is where we added an extra splash of color with a different backsplash.

Without a doubt, one of our favorite parts of the kitchen is how the table and countertop meat. Indeed by taking a closer look you’ll be able to see that the table isn’t simply placed next to the countertop as in average homes. We gave this counter top a luxurious fit into the table to so they’re coupled together. This gives it a lustrous clean finish.
